Course Description
The course, Counseling and Medical Issues, covers issues like medical factors that influence people pathophysiologically (i.e. physical medical symptoms) and how these are relevant in counseling.
Counseling is in fact, a “case by case” study, which is why we offer Case Studies, providing the opportunity to learn from real life scenarios. We will analyze the cases; learn how to ask the counselee the right questions; how to give biblical advice; and what the entire process should look like.
As human beings, one of our biggest challenges in relationships is conflict. This course Biblical Conflict Resolution is designed to help the student think biblically about conflict and how to respond to life's conflicts in a way that glorifies the Lord (I Cor. 10:31). In particular, the student will be taught a model and a plan for how to think about struggles in relationships and evaluate their own typical patterns of response. These principles apply to business and the church, but there will be a special focus on handling marriage difficulties.
Gender specific counseling requires different processes, which necessitates women discipling women and men discipling men. As a mature believer, pastor’s wife, mother and grandmother, Janie Street will be covering relevant issues specific to women based on Scripture in the course Women Discipling Women. Dr. John Street, has been a counselor for over 30 years and has decades of pastoral experience. He is married to Janie Street, is a father and grandfather. He will be teaching the course Men Discipling Men, addressing topics specific to counseling and discipleship with men.

John Street, Dr.
Dr. John D. Street is a Professor of Biblical Counseling at The Master’s College and Seminary.
He is the Chairman of the graduate program, the Masters of Arts in Biblical Counseling. Prior to coming to this program he taught at Cedarville and Cornerstone Universities. He was also a pastor for 22 years and was a church-planter in Ohio.
He completed seminary at Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary and his doctoral program at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA.
Presently he is an elder and co-pastor of the Joint Heirs fellowship group at Grace Community Church.
He and his wife, Janie, have four children.
